G1 Preview - Doomben Cup

It’s Doomben Cup day and we’ve attracted a small but select field over 2000m at Doomben. Pride Of Jenni is always the key runner in every single race that she contests, because if she’s at her best, she’s probably winning. In the later stage of her career, she’s mixed her form and it’s fair enough, a horse that leaves all her energy on the track can be forgiven for putting in a flat one. This is D-Day this preparation for Half Yours, he sets up to improve sharply third-up off the back of that fast Hollindale Cup lead in. Interestingly, he was the favourite earlier in the week but was beaten home by all three key rivals (PRIDE OF JENNI, BIRDMAN, & SHE’S A HUSTLER) in the lead-up., the market has adjusted and now has him third pick. Here is my preview:

🔍 G1 PREVIEW

DOOMBEN CUP (Doomben R8)(2000m):

HALF YOURS (1st): He went from a slow tempo first-up when doing his best work late, he wasn't suited last time out when stepping up in trip on a fast tempo, he ran well. He know has the platform to peak third-up from a spell. He should be hard to hold out.

SHE'S A HUSTLER (2nd): No match for PRIDE OF JENNI last time out but she was only second-up. She can strip fitter for that effort and is another one who can peak third-up.

PRIDE OF JENNI (3rd): Outside of her win in the Empire Rose Stakes, her peak performances recently have been with a gap between runs. She comes here off the back Hollindale Stakes blitz with only a gap of 14-days, can she reproduce?

BIRDMAN (4th): He didn't handle the tempo in the Australian Cup but was the best of the closers last time out with the best fitness platform. Others should close that edge here and can turn the tables on him.

Good luck on the punt,

His work focuses on structured form analysis, speed maps, race shape, and market intelligence, helping everyday punters approach betting with the discipline and framework used by professionals.

Today, The Leg Up Australia has built a community of thousands of punters who follow Blake’s insights to bet smarter and understand the game behind the game.
