G1 Tips — Morphettville

Anzac Day, April 25th

G1 racing heads to Adelaide this weekend — and the City of Churches is centre stage.

James McDonald flies over for two Group 1 rides. He’s the best hoop in the world, but here’s a stat that might surprise you — he’s yet to ride a metro winner in Adelaide, let alone a Group 1. Saturday is his chance to change that.

Chris Waller sits on 198 Group 1 winners. Can J-Mac, Panova and Generosity give him the chance to raise the bat for the double ton?

And let’s not forget — it’s Anzac Day. If you’re not playing two-up somewhere with a cold one in your hand, you’re doing something wrong.

Let’s kick things off with a winner. 🐎

Blindedbythelight (Morphettville R4)

Surely she’s a good gamble at $3+.

She resumed in Sydney and produced a career peak when returning 133 days between runs over 1500m. She joined in at the furlong and it took a subsequent Group 1 winner — Idle Flyer — to grab her late.

If she improves on that second-up from the ideal draw, she more than likely wins this.

TIP: BLINDEDBYTHELIGHT

Getta Good Feeling (Australasian Oaks – Morphettville R7)

The deserved favourite.

She started odds-on in the VRC Oaks — didn’t run out 2500m. But she bolted in at this trip in the Spring (Wakeful Stakes), then won unexpectedly first-up over 1200m, and bounced straight to a mile second-up and won soft again.

35 days between runs up to 2000m third-up — is that the set-up? I’m not sure. But who am I to question the Danny O’Brien camp on what looks like grand final day?

TIP: GETTA GOOD FEELING

Generosity (Robert Sangster Stakes – Morphettville R8)

She found the right trail first-up and beat a couple of subsequent winners — including the Galaxy winner Marhoona.

Last start in that Galaxy she had a tough run covering extra ground at the back of the field. She hit the line hard and wasn’t beaten far. That rating meets the winning standard for this.

Gets a soft draw. Gets J-Mac.

Hard to beat.

TIP: GENEROSITY
