Saturday (28.02.26) Market Analysis – Big Betting Moves.

Markets don’t move by accident — especially on a feature race day. When serious money arrives, it leaves clues, which can help us to find our next winner. In our Saturday Market Analysis, we break down the biggest betting moves and what the market told us. Here are the three biggest betting moves on Verry Elleegant Stakes Day.

BRAVE XENA ($5 into $4)

Finished: 1st

The market was keen that she could make it three from three – it came for the top two (NEIL) but she was the biggest push late. She won on debut and then improved her rating sharply at her second start, winning easily. She was on the quick back-up with just 6-days between runs, she was able to sit wide without cover and still power through the line – she produced the best last 200m of the race.

She sat outside the leader previously. Looks to have good ability and the market identified it early.

WARWOVEN ($2.15 into $1.75)

Finished: 4th

The market liked him late in the trade. He was 56-days between runs without a public trial on the back of a setback prior to the Magic Millions 2yo Classic. He had dominant ratings from his debut and Eagle Farm wins – but the question was, could we expect him to reproduce. The market lent into those two ratings probably suggesting that he could regress significantly from those and still meet the winning standard.

He drew low and was in potentially inferior ground, but thought he had his chance in the end.

MILITARIZE ($6.50 to $4.20)

Finished: 4th

Not sure where this move came from, was it the fact that he was 888 days between wins in the HKJC World Pool Liverpool City Cup? Probably not but it’s an interesting coincidence.

If you marked him on his form over further (1600m+) you could get him as short as the market did. Maybe the market was looking for new blood? As the two horses that it trended toward were AXIUS and MILITARIZE. The market was against those through the JRA Plate which was a bunched finish.
