Randwick Market Analysis – Key Betting Moves & Race Insights (07 March 2026)

Understanding how the betting market reacts to form, ratings and race shape can reveal where the sharp money is landing.

Saturday’s Randwick meeting delivered several significant market moves, with a number of runners strongly supported late by professional bettors.

Below is our race-by-race market analysis from the Randwick program, including the key betting moves behind Zenmaster, Juja Kibo, Chayan, Pinito, Raging Force and Sheza Alibi.

Zenmaster – Randwick Race 1

Midway Handicap (1600m)

The betting market essentially narrowed the race down to two runners – ZENMASTER and ICEMAN – and the late players proved to be spot on.

ZENMASTER made it back-to-back wins, but interestingly he didn’t arrive with the dominant last-start figure on paper.

Both DOLLARS and TENDERIZE produced similar ratings in their previous runs, but there was an important difference in the way those figures were achieved.

Those runners were able to produce their numbers off slow tempos, while ZENMASTER produced his rating off a solid tempo with several gear changes, which suggested his performance had greater merit and there was potential for him to hold it.

The market appeared to interpret that effort as potentially being his new base figure, and that theory proved correct.

Not only did ZENMASTER reproduce the performance — he improved on his previous career peak again.

ICEMAN also attracted strong market interest. Despite having 23 career starts, he appears to be trending upward and had excuses second-up after an eye-catching first-up run.

From a race map perspective, three horses were expected to roll forward:

ZENMASTER, TENDERIZE and DOLLARS.

Given that ZENMASTER came through the fastest race leading in, he was always the runner most capable of absorbing genuine pressure.

Juja Kibo – Randwick Race 2

Randwick City Stakes (2000m)

The market strongly gravitated toward JUJA KIBO late, and he produced an excellent run.

Members were able to secure early prices of $15 before he firmed into $4.20, so the support was something we anticipated.

His first-up run was solid, but the real attraction for the market was his consistent weight-adjusted ratings prior to his spell over similar distances.

Second-up he was forced to race one off the fence without cover in a genuinely fast tempo, which is rarely the place to be so early in the preparation.

Given that scenario, it was a terrific effort, and he should strip fitter third-up.

He’s one worth sticking with.

Chayan – Randwick Race 3

Reisling Stakes (1200m)

The market sided with the filly bringing superior Victorian two-year-old form lines.

CHAYAN had produced a competitive rating last start — roughly two lengths inferior to Agrarian Girl’s debut figure, but importantly she had already proven herself at 1200 metres.

Her Blue Diamond Stakes run had significant excuses, having endured a torrid run.

With James McDonald booked to ride, the market clearly believed that we could see the best of her.

That confidence proved justified.

She won impressively and stamped herself as a serious Golden Slipper contender.

Pinito – Randwick Race 6

Aspiration Quality (1600m)

PINITO was the runner the market singled out late, eventually starting favourite despite not being the morning elect.

Her first-up performance had enormous merit against the pattern of the day.

While she initially found the rail in running, she eventually angled into clear air and produced some of the fastest closing sectionals of the meeting down the middle of the track.

Her career peak prior to the spell came in the Queensland Oaks, and while her first-up run didn’t reach that number, the sectional profile suggested that the run had plenty of merit.

There was also a notable riding change, with James McDonald replacing Tommy Berry, and McDonald was in outstanding form on the day.

She justified the late support.

Raging Force – Randwick Race 7

Challenge Stakes (1000m)

This was arguably the biggest betting move of the day.

RAGING FORCE sat around $3.80 after scratchings before firming into $3, with the majority of the support arriving late in betting.

Members secured $4.40 earlier in the week, so once again this was a move we saw developing.

He had been trialling like a high-class horse, and two of his last four ratings were already good enough to win this race.

The remaining runs were forgivable:

* One came with a slow recovery post-race

* The other involved traffic issues in a Group 1 contest

Meanwhile, the early favourite GIGA KICK drifted from $2.60 to $3.30.

The market likely questioned whether he would be fully suited by 1000m second-up, especially if he settled back in a race lacking genuine tempo.

Raging Force ultimately failed but showed up in the steward’s report, pulling up 4/5 lame.

Forgive that, he can bounce back next time.

Sheza Alibi – Randwick Race 8

Randwick Guineas (1600m)

The market made a very clear statement here.

The move began midweek when SHEZA ALIBI opened equal favourite with AUTUMN BOY, but as betting progressed the bigger players gravitated strongly toward one horse.

She eventually started $2.10 on Betfair, with several bookmakers operating in the red.

One key pattern stood out in her recent performances:

Across her previous four runs, her final 200 metres had been the strongest sectional of her race.

That pattern often indicates further improvement still to come in a horse’s ratings.

While AUTUMN BOY had produced competitive numbers previously, his last start came against the pattern of the day, making it possible he could bounce to his best.

However, Sheza Alibi’s last two figures were already the benchmark for this race, and the market clearly believed there was still upside in her profile.

That combination explains the heavy late support.

Idle Flyer – Randwick Race 10

Wenona Girl Quality (1200m)

Another major betting move on the program.

IDLE FLYER opened around $4 on Wednesday, initially with deductions only for Bauhinia, but ultimately started a strongly supported favourite, replacing GANGSTA GRANNY at the top of betting.

She wasn’t quite at her best over 1200 metres, but there was still some sectional merit in the run, and she profiles as a mare who should improve when stepping up in distance again.

On ratings alone she could be found, although the question beforehand was how the market would treat her over the shorter trip, given her best form previously came around the mile.

Last preparation she improved her rating with nearly every run, and when adjusted for weights her peak figure would be clearly superior to what GANGSTA GRANNY produced last campaign.

The fact she started favourite in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes before her spell indicates the level of respect the market already has for her ability.

The betting move suggested the big players believed she had simply improved as a mare, rather than her ratings being purely distance-related.
