MONOPOLISTIC (R6) — Clocked the best last 800m of the meeting to win. He was able to overcome the wide draw and race shape — a great ride to save ground made the difference. He will be very hard to beat in the QLD Derby.

KING OF THE SEA (R6) — Poor steer. The stable put in a change of tactics but after beginning well he was restrained to last. Came the widest of all before clocking the best last 200m of the meeting. The best run of the race — clearly. Third-up he peaks.

SWEYNESDAY (R7) — Never on the track. Liked the way he found the line after having no favours in the run. Good close. Further from a better draw.

HILLIER (R10) — Returned a gelding and proved too good. Began ok before settling at the back of the field. Rider was determined to stay off the fence, covered extra ground with cover before proving too strong. More to come.
