Horses To Follow - Randwick
Randwick was a meeting that it was advantageous to settle closer to the fence. Horses that covered extra ground or tried to finish off down the middle of the track were disadvantaged.
Before we get stuck into our Horses To Follow, here are our results from Saturday:

ICE KOOL: Very good first-up win, he’s destined for much better - he could be a bloody Everest horse in the future. He made it three wins from four races and the miss was in a very strong race at the Gold Coast when he was slow to begin. He does plenty wrong but a horse that can ride the speed and over-race like he did, but still manage to show his turn of speed is a good one. He will be well found by the market unless the traders is ‘Blind’ Freddy, but he should continue on his winning way.
BIG RED TEQUILA: The market liked her first-up but she was no match for the winner (ICE KOOL). She was allowed to settle in the second-half of the field before being held-up at a key stage, forgive the beaten margin but she wouldn’t have worried ICE KOOL. She can only strip fitter for that effort and will be better suited over further. She’s in for a good preparation, but lets hope the camp dodge the horse that beat her home here.
COOL JAKEY: He’s a bloody marvel this bloke. Rolls forward from the wide draw, lands outside the leader on a fast tempo and still managed to give a good kick to win. He was 49-days between runs so you’d expect him to only strip fitter for that effort next time we see him at the races. He’s a horse that loves wet tracks, so he’s in at the right time coming into the Winter months.
MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE: He’s having a great prep and can only improve on what he’s done here, he was a victim of the very wide gate. He rolled forward but couldn’t find a spot early, covering extra ground without cover. He was restrained at about 700m from home to slot in, that’s the time you want to be building into the race, not coming back - so it wasn’t exactly ideal. He chased hard and can only improve next time from a better
GENERAL SALUTE: Very good close first-up. He was in limited room before really hitting the line hard when clear. He was 224-days between runs and is better suited over further, expect him to strip fitter for that effort and improve second-up.
