G1 Makybe Diva Stakes Tips
This looks a race in two: Sir Delius vs Sheza Alibi. Both are firmly in the conversation for best horse in Australia — though Autumn Glow still holds multiple seats at that table.
I think Sheza Alibi is best suited at a mile. She chased home Autumn Glow first-up, doing her best work through the line in the Winx Stakes. Her Doncaster Mile win last preparation was unbelievable. She deserves to be odds-on.
Sir Delius has trialled well, but his best ratings so far have come over distances further than a mile. Until he proves me wrong, I'll wait for him in the Turnbull Stakes and Cox Plate.
Best Bet Saturday: Lazzura (Rosehill R7)
She found one better first-up last preparation, but she ran well — the winner's weight and fitness edge simply kicked in late, and they beat third easily.
After that defeat, she won a G1 against her own sex, and wasn't far away against the boys when second in the G1 All Ages Stakes without luck.
James McDonald rides from a good draw. She should be too good for these.
Value Bet Saturday: Encap (Rosehill R9)
He hasn't won in two years — but that win came in this exact race, carrying more weight than he does today.
First-up last preparation, he was beaten less than 2 lengths by Joliestar. That's strong form for this grade.
He's a horse who needs luck, but the market's been disrespectful to him early.
